About Us

The Somerset Wagon became an inn around 1874 when the Somerset and Dorset Railway line from Bath to Evercreech was opened and Chilcompton Railway Station was established at the bottom of the inn's garden. Although the trains and the station have sadly gone, the village still benefits from having one of the most lively and atmospheric pubs in the Mendips.

We have been at The Somerset Wagon since 1998 and feel proud to uphold and strengthen the long tradition of hospitality that draws people to us from all over the South West.
